Laura Kimsey

Stylist

I went to school at The Aveda Institute in Tampa Bay for cosmetology and barbering.

I started experimenting with coloring and cutting my own hair years before I went to cosmetology school. My friends and my sisters would have me color their hair fun and vibrant colors since it was something I loved doing as one of my creative outlets. Having two blonde sisters started my passion for highlights and creating beautiful shades that complement the individual.

Stylist Q&A

What part of hairdressing do you love most?

I love making someone’s day and helping my clients feel confident and beautiful. I enjoy a challenge and creating art through hair.

What about the industry that fuels you?

I’m so inspired by other stylists and I enjoy learning new techniques. It drives my passion to grow and advance my skillset. Attending master classes by highly specialized professionals in the industry will always be very cool to me and I just can’t get enough!

What is a fun fact about you?

I started classical ballet at 3 years old and continued training in the Vaganova Method of Russian Ballet throughout my adolescence with my first lead role as Princess Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty. My other fun fact is my car got hit by a mattress. So if your new mattress fell off your truck, that was me behind you:)

What do you love to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I enjoy drawing and spending time with friends and family playing card games, going to festivals, and dancing. I also very much enjoy traveling so if I’m not in town, I’m probably snowboarding on a mountain somewhere😎

What are your top achievements as a hairstylist?

I’ve done Bridal hair and I was a part of the team of hair stylists for The St. Regis Fashion Show in Longboat Key.
