Cutting Loose was honored to have Paul Mitchell’s Artistic Director and Emmy nominated hairstylist, Noogie Thai as a guest in the salon. Throughout two days, Noogie taught a class featuring techniques used for editorial style hair and social media tips, as well as co-directing a photoshoot that included 14 of stylists and six models.
The stylists that participated in our photoshoot this year were given the opportunity by winning a salon wide contest with Paul Mitchell’s Color Craft, a custom color treatment for in-salon and take home.
Thai’s class involved an in depth look at Paul Mitchell’s new Lavender Mint line of products. While the line has a focus for coarse, curly hair, Thai told the salon that the products can be used on any hair type. He demonstrated that layering the right amount of hair product for the specified hair type is the most important factor in keeping the hair’s style consistent throughout the day, especially when working with editorial style hair.
Cutting Loose’s own artistic director, Cheyanne Clark, worked closely with the stylists and Thai to come up with a creative concept and mood boards to prep for photoshoot months in advance.
When asked how Clark came up with the theme for the photoshoot, she said, “A lot came from my travels in Europe, specifically, France. Combining that with a western look that has been popular in recent Fashion Weeks, as well as influencers online.”
Clark, having a distinct eye for editorial style in hair, makeup and fashion, lead the team with Thai to a successful photoshoot.
Jewels Cappello, a Senior Level Stylist who worked on the photoshoot, said “Noogie taught us how to look at hair in a different light. The photoshoot went amazing and was relaxed and we all got to have so much fun.”
